The college football season is here and the LSU Tigers start their 2012 season this Saturday at 7 p.m. in Baton Rouge against North Texas.

Les Miles and the Tigers have had an offseason full of surprises, including All-Ameircan cornerback Tyrann Mathieu being kicked off the team.

What else can we look forward to season?

Zach Mettenberger will make his much anticipated debut as a starter for the LSU Tigers on Saturday night in death valley as he enters his fourth year in college football.

Mattenberger said, ''I'm definitely excited to finally be the guy." He went on to say, ''I'm tremendously just ecstatic about this opportunity I have to be a starter for LSU. A lot of kids dream of being that guy and I finally get a chance to go out there and showcase what I can do.''

LSU coaches believe that Mattenberger is an exceptional down-field passer that will provide the Tigers' offense with more of a balance than last year.

LSU coach Les Miles said the Tigers will be much better at passing this year, as long as Mettenberger doesn't worry too much about living up to big expectations. Les Miles said, ''He needs to relax and let the game come to him, he shouldn't have any anxiety about playing. He just needs to do the things we ask him to do.''
