The 2nd ranked LSU Tigers won 9-3 over Nicholls St. on Wedneday night in Baton Rouge. It's the second time this year LSU has beaten the Colonels. LSU has now won 11 straight heading into SEC play this weekend.

The LSU offense had a big eighth inning, scoring five runs aided by a two-run Mason Katz homer... his sixth of the season.  Katz has 22 RBI during the Tiger's winning streak.

Ten Tiger pitchers took the mound.  Russel Reynolds started the game, throwing two scoreless innings.  Reliever Brent Bonvillian got the win after entering in the seventh inning with the score tied 3-3.

The highlight of the game for Nicholls St. was a triple play turned in the first inning.  The Tigers were looking at having the bases loaded with Raph Rhymes at the plate; instead Alex Bregman lined a 3-1 pitch just above the Colonel second baseman who made a great leaping catch and caught the LSU runners on first and second off-base.

All batters in the game wore powder blue helmets in recognition of prostate cancer awareness.

LSU starts their SEC schedule on the road in Starkville to face the #10 Mississippi State Bulldogs.  First pitch on Friday is at 6:30pm.
