Two Country Music Legends, face to face, each with a Great Classic Country Song means, "The KWKH Duel of the Legends".

Each week, two of country music’s greatest legends of all time will compete for fan votes, and the song with the most votes wins.

This week, it’s country music legends, George Jones with, ‘Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes’ taking on Merle Haggard with, ‘Are The Good Tomes Really Over For Good.’

George Jones has frequently been referred to as "the greatest living country singer."

Country music scholar Bill C. Malone writes, "For the two or three minutes consumed by a song, Jones immerses himself so completely in its lyrics, and in the mood it conveys, that the listener can scarcely avoid becoming similarly involved."

Merle Haggard is a singer, guitarist, fiddler, instrumentalist, and songwriter.

Along with Buck Owens, Haggard and his band The Strangers helped create the Bakersfield sound, which is characterized by the unique twang of Fender Telecaster guitars, vocal harmonies, and a rough edge not heard on the more polished Nashville Sound recordings of the same era.

Listen to George Jones’ ‘Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes’ and then Merle Haggard’s ‘Are The Good Tomes Really Over For Good.’ Please take into consideration the greatness of both songs, and then vote wisely. It's ok if you tell friends and fellow fans to cast their votes too, but hurry! A champion for this round will be named on October 31, when we’ll launch the next KWKH Duel of the Legends.

Rules: The legend and song with the most votes wins, and winner goes on to face next week’s challenger. If a legend wins four weeks in a row, he or she will be retired into the "KWKH Hall of Fame" to allow for other legends to compete.
