This Fathers Day weekend the Benton High School Tigers held thier 7-on-7 tournament at Freedom Fields. Friday was the beginning of pool play and the tournament was played Saturday morning. 15 teams were in action with local teams Benton,Airline,Captain Shreve,Parkway,Haughton,Green Oaks,North Caddo,Booker T. Washington,Northwood,Mansfield, and Minden. With some schools from around Louisiana like St. Mary's (Natchitoches),Pineville (Alexandra), and Lake Cormorant High School (Lake Cormorant, MS).

Ofcourse, this weekend was extremely warm and playing on turf did not help at all but these kids fought hard and gave it their all. You could feel the excitement in the air because these young men love to spend their summers competeing and getting better for the upcoming season. Take a look at the tournament bracket for Saturday morning. The tournament was double elimination and as the day went on the Benton Tigers lost in the winners semi-final to Captain Shreve and barely got by Airline in the losers bracket final. The championship was set to be Captian Shreve vs Benton but the thunderstorm came rolling in and the two coaches decided to stop it there and give the championship trophy to the Captain Shreve Gators. Benton would have had to beat Captain Shreve twice to win take home the Benton High School Charity Tournament throphy. The Gators really deserved the championship going 7-1 through out the tournament and 4-0 on Saturday.
