Aaron Nola Named First Team Collegiate Baseball All-American

LSU Junior left-hander Aaron Nola has received First Team All-American Honors by Collegiate Baseball Magazine for the second straight season.

AARON NOLA NAMED FIRST-TEAM ALL-AMERICAN BY COLLEGIATE BASEBALL

BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU junior right-hander Aaron Nola was named Thursday by Collegiate Baseball magazine as a 2014 first-team all-American.

Nola, a Baton Rouge product, earned first-team all-America recognition for the second straight year. The only two-time Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Year (2013 and 2014) in league history, Nola is 10-1 this season with a 1.49 ERA, and he’s recorded 26 walks and 127 strikeouts in 109 innings.

He leads the SEC this season in strikeouts, innings pitched and opponent batting average (.173), and he is No. 3 in the nation in strikeouts. Nola has moved to No. 3 on the LSU career strikeouts list with 338.

LSU has a 14-1 mark in the games Nola has started this season.

Nola will be the Tigers’ starting pitcher in their second game of the NCAA Baton  Rouge Regional on Saturday in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field. He will face either Houston or Bryant at either 2 p.m. or 7 p.m. CT.

LSU has produced 26 first-team all-Americans in its history, including eight during the eight-season tenure of coach Paul Mainieri.
