Newt Gingrich

It makes sense that the masses should decide who has had an influence over them. Perhaps this is the theory behind TIME Magazine’s recent release of its 200-name ballot for its yearly list of the world’s 100 most influential people.

Republican presidential hopeful and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is on the campaign trail and visited Shreveport today. During his news conference today in Shreveport,  he challenged President Obama’s comments on energy.

Alabama and Mississippi voters went for the more conservative candidate,  Rick Santorum in republican primary voting last night.  It was a slap in the face for Newt Gingrich, whose home state is Georgia.  Mitt Romney could have sealed the deal with wins in the South, but failed to win among the more conservative voters on the moral issues.

Newt Gingrich says he wants to put a base on the moon by 2020, adding he hopes enough people will move there so they can petition to make it a state. If it is part of the US of A, does that mean we’d have to travel 65 miles per hour to get there if we went on a road trip? Because that would take roughly 2,000 years and, quite frankly, who has that kind of time?

If Newt Gingrich somehow manages to get elected in 2012, there's a good chance the White House will be hearing a lot more ABBA in the hallways. According to the LA Times, Gingrich's speech in Ames, Iowa, was interrupted Thursday when his cell phone went off. The ringtone: ABBA's 'Dancing Queen.'
