Hurricanes

Along Louisiana's coastlines are several islands, some inhabited, and some that used to have residents but are now deserted.

Hurricane researchers at Colorado State University predict that this hurricane season which runs from June 1 to November 30th, will be slightly below normal. They predict 13 named storms this year, and six will reach hurricane status. Of those, they predict two major hurricanes, or storms with winds over 111 miles per hour.

Former Carencro head football coach and Welsh native, Lance Guidry, has officially been named as the new defensive coordinator for the Miami Hurricanes.

The World Meteorological Organization has retired the names Laura and Dorian and is doing away with using the Greek alphabet too.
