If I have to put together a list of my favorite festivals in Shreveport Bossier, this one is easily in my top 5. It's the Sunflower Trail and Festival in Gilliam, just north of town.

This is the 20th year for the event and it's happening Saturday, June 16th at Red River Crossroads Museum on Main Street in Gilliam from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Why is this one of my all time best pics? The flowers are simply amazing. You will see sunflowers as far as the eye can see. And they are huge. Some of them stand 6 feet tall. If you ever wanted a really cool place for a photo op, this is it.

Not only does the festival feature the scenic sunflower trail, you can go sunflower picking and do arts and crafts. You'll also find live entertainment, children’s activities, a sunflower photography contest, and more.
