The LSU Tigers have hired a longtime veteran football coach with an impressive resume.

The 63-year old Cosgrove replaces Mark Criner, who left the program to work for the Atlanta Legends of the AAF.

Most recently the defensive coordinator at New Mexico, Cosgrove spent seven seasons (2012-2018) with the Lobos, after a one-year stint (2011) at Akron.

From 1995-2010, Cosgrove spent his time in the Big Ten and Big XII, serving as defensive coordinator for Wisconsin (1995-2003), Nebraska (2004-2007), and Minnesota (2009-2010) during that time span.

A native of Chicago, Cosgrove also coached linebackers at Colorado State in 1989, was defensive coordinator at Southeast Missouri State in 1988 and linebackers coach at Illinois (1983-87) and Morehead State (1983). He served as graduate assistant at Illinois from 1980-83.
