Louisiana Tech doesn't have a bowl game to play in, but they do have a new head coach. The school announced today, the hiring of Skip Holtz. Son of College Football Hall of Famer Lou Holtz.

Holtz was fired from South Florida last month after three seasons where he was 16-21 overall.  The 48 year old coach came to USF from East Carolina where he won a pair of Conference USA titles.  Tech will join conference USA next season.

Holtz replaces Sonny Dykes who left for California.  Dykes had a 22-15 record with the Bulldogs, improving their victory total each year. The Bulldogs averaged 35.9 points and 452.5 yards per game in his tenure.  Last season Tech led the nation in total offense, and was last in the nation in total defense.
