Since the New York Times launched its "50 Best Restaurants in America" list in 2021, it has gained quite a bit of notoriety.

The Times' "50 Best Restaurants" list has quickly become one of the most anticipated and respected food rankings, highlighting both established restaurants and new culinary talent each year.

The selection is based on restaurant reviews and assessments from the newspaper's food critics and contributors​.

On the New York Times' 2024 list of the "50 Best Restaurants in America", California and New York stand out as the states with the most restaurants on the list.

California landed five restaurants on this year's list, and New York snagged three spots.

Obviously, California and New York are much bigger states with much bigger cities than anywhere in Louisiana, but we still took two spots on this year's list.

So, what two Louisiana restaurants made the prestigious New York Times "50 Best Restaurants in America" for 2024?

1. Acamaya - 3070 Dauphine St, New Orleans, Louisiana

Incredibly, Acamaya in New Orleans just opened for business in July of 2024.

Despite being open for only a few months, Acamaya has quickly made a huge impact on the New Orleans restaurant scene.

The word "Acamaya" refers to a type of freshwater shrimp.
