Welp, unfortunately, Texas Governor Greg Abbott took to the interwebs in a recent X post mourning the loss of former President Jimmy Carter and made a particular blunder that has caught the wrong type of attention.

This looks like a very nice and heartfelt memorial post for our former president, but I'm sure you saw the "updated" just before the formal written statement... yeah, that's because the original had one tiny flaw that has sent the internet swirling.

You see, in the first post that was released from Abbott, he mentioned the following: "Cecilia and I send our prayers and deepest condolences to First Lady Rosalynn Carter and the entire Carter family."

...Yeah, Rosalyn Carter passed away last year after the two were married for 77 years. With the internet being, well, the internet, this mistake garnered many angry responses. Here are some of my favorites:   

 

 


     

 

 


 

I want to end this by saying that, no matter the response, it was still nice of Gov. Abbott to send a formal statement. He didn't have to say anything but chose to do so. It's just unfortunate for him and his team for this glaring mistake to slip through.
