Doctor Who Star John Barrowman Coming to Shreveport for Geek’d Con 2025

This August, Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con returns to Downtown Shreveport. When this event started back in 2015, not many people probably expected the event to still be going a decade later. But it's 2025, and Geek'd Con is coming back to the Shreveport Convention Center, August 22nd-24th. That's right, its Geek'd Con's 10th Anniversary!

So we thought the lineup for Geek'd Con had been announced, and there are some big names coming to Shreveport. But there was actually one more name to add to the list.

A guest that was supposed to appear at Geek'd Con a few years ago (unfortunately had to cancel very late) is making that appearance good in 2025. Doctor Who star John Barrowman is coming to Geek'd Con!

Who is John Barrowman?

John Barrowman MBE, the dynamic Scottish-American performer, has long been a fixture in the worlds of television, stage, and music. Known for his charisma and versatility, Barrowman has captivated audiences as an actor, singer, dancer, host, and writer.

Barrowman shot to international fame with his portrayal of Captain Jack Harkness in the iconic BBC show Doctor Who. His character became an instant fan favorite, eventually leading to Barrowman headlining the successful spin-off series Torchwood, where he continued in the role of the time-traveling hero Captain Jack.

In the realm of superheroes, Barrowman made a mark as Malcolm Merlyn, The Dark Archer, in The CW's Arrow. He was one of the series' central antagonists, and a founding member of the Arrowverse. He appeared as Malcolm Merlyn in more than 75 episodes across Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow.

What Does John Barrowman Do Outside of Acting?

Beyond acting, Barrowman has proven himself a capable and charismatic television host. His credits include All Star Musicals, Dancing On Ice, Attack of the Show!, Sing Your Face Off, and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Thames River Pageant.

A seasoned recording artist, Barrowman has released ten studio albums and three compilation albums. His recent European tour showcased his enduring appeal as a live performer.

John Barrowman Has Been Honored For His Advocacy Work

In recognition of his contributions to the arts and advocacy work, Barrowman was awarded the title of Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), and received the Human Rights Campaign’s Visibility Award, cementing his legacy as both an entertainer and advocate.

What Celebrities Are Coming To Geek'd Con in Shreveport?

This year's guest lineup already includes a 35th Anniversary "Shell-a-Bration" for the release of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, with actors representing all four Turtles from the movie. Tony Award winning actor Barry Bostwick will also be at the event. They'll all be joined by celebrities like Theo Rossi, Ethan Suplee, and Alan Ruck.
