Could Louisianans Do This to Avoid Severe Hangovers?
My Favorite Saying About Louisiana Has to Do With How Much We Drink and Cook.
The saying goes, "Louisiana is a place where men cook like their mothers and women drink like their fathers." At first, I laughed at the saying then I realized that it might just be true. Louisiana is known for a good time, we seem to have the most fun holiday of all that is built around a good time and a whole lot of booze.
Is there anything worse than a hangover? We have all been told that we have to have a greasy meal to cure a hangover or the most popular piece of advice, "hair-of-the-dog" which has never been my go-to option. Who wants to drink more when you already feel horrid after a night out?
What if one of the things you hate doing on the regular can actually help alleviate horrid hungover mornings? If you regularly exercise you may have better luck at rough mornings post booze-filled celebrations.
According to TheConversation.com, a study was just published in the journal Addictive Behaviours. 1,676 undergraduate students who had experienced at least one hangover in the past three months were part of the study. "The findings indicated a significant association between physical activity and hangover symptoms." The study also suggests that "higher levels of exercise may reduce the severity of hangover symptoms." So if you want to elevate your hangovers, make sure you fit in some serious cardio into your week.
