We are always learning new ways to keep our pets safe. It wasn't long ago that I found out about the dangers of a certain houseplant for dogs; the crazy part is that this plant is popular all over Louisiana.

The Sago Palm is a popular plant, and you probably spot this plant all over Louisiana yards. Although it's a beautiful plant, all parts of this plant, especially the seeds, can kill your dog. From severe vomiting and diarrhea to seizures and liver failure. If you have this plant in your home and you have dogs, you need to get rid of this plant ASAP.

A Bossier Veternarian Is Warning Pet Parents About a Popular Easter Plant

Dr. Hanna Green of North Airline Animal Hospital took to social media to warn cat owners of a danger that could be in their home. Especially during Easter. Did you know that certain types of lilies are highly toxic to cats? Even small amounts can cause severe kidney failure. When we say small amounts, we mean the pollen and even the water in the vase can be toxic. When your vet warns you about the dangers of lilies, just remember that even the water from the vase can cause your cat to develop fatal kidney failure in less than 3 days.

Dr. Green suggests you leave any kind of lillie at the store, no matter how beautiful they are. If you get a beautiful Easter bouquet, go ahead and take out any lilies before you enter your home.

We have already started seeing Easter Lilies all over Shreveport stores. Remember that even the tiniest amount can cause severe kidney failure, which leads to death if not treated quickly.

Thank you to the entire crew at North Airline Animal Hospital for keeping us in the loop about these dangerous plants that are all around us.
