Teenager Injured During Shreveport House Fire
On Friday, Shreveport Fire Department was called to a house fire on Edgewood Place.
One of the occupants of the house called 911 and reported they could see smoke billowing out of a bedroom in the home.
Within a few minutes SFD was on the scene fighting the blazing fire at the single-family home. Thanks to SFD's quick response, the fire was confined to one room of the house and was out within 6 minutes of their arrival.
27 Firefighters and 9 units helped to keep this fire from getting out of control. One teenager was treated on the scene for non life-threatening injuries. No Firefighters were hurt during this call.
SFD inspected the home after the fire was under control, and saw that there was no working smoke detectors in the house. Firefighters installed a working smoke detector before they left.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
From SFD:
"The Shreveport Fire Department reminds all residents to stay vigilant about fire safety and to ensure that their homes are equipped with functioning smoke detectors. Free smoke alarms and installation assistance are available through the department’s Fire Prevention Office (318) 673-6740."
