The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for the Shreveport area until 4pm this afternoon. There is a risk of severe weather. The public is urged to be prepared to take shelter, if necessary.

What Areas Are Included in Tornado Watch?

This tornado watch includes Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, DeSoto, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine and Webster Parishes in northwest Louisiana. It also includes Columbia, Hempstead, Lafayette, Miller and Nevada Counties in southwest Arkansas. In Texas, this tornado watch includes Angelina, Cherokee, Harrison, Marion,  Nacogdoches, Panola, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine and Shelby counties.

This watch also includes Jackson, Lincoln, Ouachita, Union and Winn Parishes in north central Louisiana.

This tornado watch includes the following cities in our region:

Arcadia, Bernice, Bossier City, Bradley, Carthage, Center, Coushatta, El Dorado, Farmerville, Gibsland, Haynesville, Hemphill, Henderson, Homer, Hope, Jacksonville, Jefferson, Jonesboro, Lewisville, Logansport, Lufkin, Magnolia, Mansfield, Many, Marshall, Martin, Minden, Monroe, Nacogdoches, Natchitoches, Pineland, Pleasant Hill, Prescott, Ringgold, Rusk, Ruston, San Augustine, Shreveport, Springhill, Stamps, Stonewall, Texarkana, Winnfield, and Zwolle.

The National Weather Service says severe weather and heavy rainfall is possible throughout the day and into tonight. We could see some tornadoes move through the area, but we also need to be concerned about high winds. Wind gusts could be as high as 30mph as this storms moves across the region. A wind advisory is also in effect.
