Shreveport Man Arrested for Domestic Violence Strangulation
SHREVEPORT, LA- Arrest Made in Violent 2023 Domestic Incident
Shreveport Police Department officers responded to the 300 block of West 77th Street in reference to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, who reported that her live-in boyfriend, James Cotton, had struck her in the face with a closed fist following an argument.
The victim exhibited significant facial swelling on the left side of her face, including her eye, cheek, and lip, as well as bruising near the left side of her stomach. The Shreveport Fire Department was called to the scene, and the victim was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
Following the incident, Domestic Violence Detectives were notified, and warrants were issued for Cotton’s arrest on charges of Domestic Abuse Battery, Domestic Abuse Battery with Serious Bodily Injury, and Domestic Abuse Battery with Strangulation.
On October 4, 2024, officers with the SPD Warrants Unit located and arrested 43-year-old James Cotton.
