Shreveport Man Gets Life for Sexual Assault of a 7 Year-old

It took the Caddo Court Jury less than an hour to come up with a guilty verdict for these sick crimes.

46 year-old Donovan Phillips was found guilty of first-degree rape for the horrific assaults on a young girl from the age of 7 to 12. The assaults stopped in 2020 when the girl told her mother about the assaults.

The sickening details came out in court, that starting when the girl was 7 Phillips started grooming her with touching under the guise of teaching the girl anatomy of boys and girls. As time went on the assaults became more and more disturbing ending up with the man raping the child. The assaults continued until the girl was 12 years old. Phillips used condoms and the victim was able to remember the brand name SKYN, which were found in a backpack in Phillips' bedroom at the time of his arrest.

Phillips also threatened to hurt the girl and her family if she did not do what he said.

Phillips was found unanimously guilty by the Jury and was sentenced to life in prison at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation or suspension.
