The new substation, to be located at the corner of North Market at North Hearne, near the new Amazon Distribution Center, is about to start construction.  The land on North Market was donated to the city by the North Shreveport Business Association for the sole purpose of a police substation.

The North Market substation was funded by a bond issue approved by the voters in late 2021. Once constructed, it will house Police patrol officers assigned to North Shreveport.

Chris Bordelon told KEEL News on Wednesday Monkhouse is about 98% complete.  They are "waiting on a couple of our technical services to be installed and we will be good to go."

Read more about that location HERE.  Plans are to receive bids on the Cedar Grove substation later this year and to have construction complete by the summer of next year.

Chief Smith announced on Wednesday that construction on the North Market substation will start next month, and is expected to be completed in about 6 months.

The once very popular Shreveport Holiday Inn Holidome turned, Ramada was once the place to be for folks traveling through Shreveport Airport. The great Holidome sat on Financial Plaza in Shreveport for many years, and was considered a great place to spend your layover or delayed flight. Now the property is in total disarray with garbage littering the parking lot, and the (pretty hilarious) sheet-rope hanging out of a broken top-floor window.
