Movies You Forgot Tony Todd Was In
Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con, is coming back to Downtown Shreveport this August. The 2024 Geek'd Con will take place August 16th, 17th, and 18th, at the Shreveport Convention Center.
Tickets for this year's Geek'd Con are available right now. You can get yours here.
The guest lineup will include E.T. stars Henry Thomas and Dee Wallace, the voice of Master Chief Steve Downes, award winning actor Billy Zane, the voice of Mickey Mouse Bret Iwan, and many more incredibly talented celebrities.
One of those stars is horror movie icon Tony Todd.
So we're going to talk about Tony Todd's movie roles. Now the title of this piece is "Movies You Forgot Tony Todd Was In", but that's not directed at the giant Tony Todd fans. Those folks know his IMDB front to back and never forget a role. This also doesn't address people who are huge fans of a specific movie on the list, because you know Tony Todd was in it if you love that movie.
This is a more general list that the average person will see at least one movie role and go "oh yeah, I forgot he was in that!" At least, that's our goal here. So lets look at some of these movies.
Platoon - Sergeant Warren
This was Tony Todd's first movie role. It wasn't a huge part, but with a movie so big, every little part matters. This was also the first time Tony Todd worked with fellow Geek'd Con 2024 guest John C. McGinley.
Lean on Me - Mr. William Wright
Such a powerful movie. Tony Todd's imposing presence fits perfectly with his role here. You can see in the video above exactly what we mean.
Night of the Living Dead (1990) - Ben
This love letter to George A. Romero's original Night of the Living Dead. It was directed by master of special effects Tom Savini, in his feature directorial debut. Even though it was originally planned because of concerns over the profits of the original film, the principal people involved, Savini and Tony Todd, took special care to show their love for the source material in this early 90s horror gem.
The Rock - Captain Darrow
All we have to say is Nicolas Cage vs Tony Todd. Sold.
Wishmaster - Johnny Valentine
Wes Craven pulled together some of horror's heavy hitters to appear in this 1997 cult classic. Including Kane Hodder, Robert Englund, and of course Tony Todd.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - The Fallen
You might have let this one slip your mind, or missed it completely, because Tony Todd doesn't physically play the role on screen. But he provides a wicked vocal performance for The Fallen in this summer blockbuster.
Come talk about all of these roles, and more, with Tony Todd at Geek'd Con this August.
