How You Can Help During This Winter Blast in Louisiana

SHREVEPORT, LA - A cold blast of winter is roaring across the nation. This weather system has thrown northwest Louisiana into the deep freeze.

The temperature in Shreveport dipped below freezing on Monday morning and we are expected to see overnight temps in the 20's each night this week. There is no winter precip in the forecast until Thursday.

Richard Lewelling with the Weather Channel says we could be seeing an ice storm. He says this could be significant event coming in Thursday evening into Friday morning.

What Can You Do to Help?

Local shelters need your help. They are looking for donations of several items.

Here's the list provided by Hope Connections:

Blankets, pillows and twin sheets
Jackets, coats and hoodies
Liquid laundry detergent
Snacks and microwavable food
Bottled water, coffee, creamer, and sugar
Spray deodorant, liquid body wash, and hand soap
Disinfectant spray
