2 Texas Cities Named Dirtiest in the Country
A recent study found two Texas cities were among the filthiest in the United States.
This is one of those cases in which I have to ask that you not shoot the messenger. I didn’t conduct the study; I’m merely reporting on it. And yes, it pains me when I have to share anything negative about my beloved Lone Star State.
But that’s just how it goes when it comes to these types of studies – there will be winners and there will be losers.
How did researchers determine which cities were the dirtiest in the country?
The folks at LawnStarter looked at more than 300 of the largest cities in the United States and compared them using a total of 21 metrics including air pollution, water quality, waste management, and resident dissatisfaction levels in each city.
Ultimately, researchers found that Houston and nearby Baytown were among the 10 dirtiest cities.
As someone who is always looking for a silver lining, I like to think that these types of studies are a wakeup call to the people in charge. Hopefully, city officials in Houston and Baytown can turn things around. I realize it’s easier said than done, but every little step taken to clean things up is a step in the right direction.
