Calling the traffic situation in Bossier a "challenge" at the present, is somewhat akin to the dentist saying you'll feel a little "pressure" during the root canal.

It's not a challenge, nor is that pressure. It's gotten to be a real pain in the backside, but we must continue to remind ourselves that before we can enjoy the harvests, we must first labor in the field.

For those unaware, today's the day when the DOTD will shut down the Industrial Drive exit ramp from I-20 eastbound, and both the I-20 westbound entrance and exit ramp from Industrial Drive as we transition to the newest phase of the I-20 reconstruction project.  It's estimated this closure will remain in place until early to mid-October.

Of course, I-20 isn't the only major project in Bossier City at present.  The City is also constructing the Walter O. Bigby Carriageway and it's causing some traffic issues on Benton Road as the southbound outside (right) lane of LA 3 (Benton Road) is closed from Montgomery Lane to Shed Road.

And this Wednesday, August 21, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, drivers can expect additional intermittent lane closures on LA 3 (Benton Road) northbound and southbound between Melrose Avenue and Citizens Bank Drive in Bossier City.

These lane closures are anticipated to last one day, and are necessary to allow the contractor for the ongoing Walter O. Bigby Carriageway project to install the signal loop detectors in the pavement of LA 3.

As a reminder, this project is being managed by the City of Bossier City. Inquiries about the project itself should be directed to the city.
