Traffic Alert: LA 175 in DeSoto Parish Closing for a Month
Okay, let's be honest. This one is going to sting. Actually, it'll probably be a real pain in the backside.

However, for drivers in DeSoto Parish, the end result will be a much smoother ride on a heavily traveled road.
As you might know, in May of this year, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development began work on an $11.2 million project to improve an approximate 10.5 mile stretch of LA 175 extending from LA 509 to LA 5 at the Kingston Community.
At that time, DOTD also advised motorists to expect lane closures and other traffic inconveniences during this massive asphalt overlay project.
Well, one of those "inconveniences" is set to begin this week.
In a notice from the LADOTD, we learn that beginning this Friday, August 29, a section of LA 175 in DeSoto Parish will be closed for approximately thirty days, and is necessary to allow the contractor to repair the headwall on a culvert located under the roadway.
This closure is located approximately 1.6 miles north of the intersection with LA 3015. Detour signage will be in place.
Please drive cautiously through the work zone, adhering to the posted speed limit and never driving while distracted or impaired.
The entire project is estimated to be complete in Spring 2026, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.

Motorists may also monitor the LA DOTD website at www.dotd.la.gov, by selecting MyDOTD, or by visiting the DOTD Facebook and X (Twitter) pages.
