Month of Major Nightly I-20 Closures Start in Shreveport Tomorrow
For Bossier and Shreveport drivers, it's been an incredibly long two years, but it would appear the end of the I-20 rehabilitation project is on the horizon.

However, to achieve the ultimate goal of a much nicer ride through the area, drivers will have to navigate through at least one more traffic obstacle.
In a notice from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, we have discovered that beginning tomorrow night, Tuesday, September 16, the inside (left) lane of I-20 westbound from near the Common St/Line Ave. interchange (Exit 18D) to the I-49 interchange (17A) in Shreveport will be closed.

Additionally, the on-ramp from US 71 (Market Street) southbound to I-20 westbound will be closed.
Both of these closures will take place from approximately 7:00 pm to 6:00 am each night for approximately one month, and are necessary to allow the contractor to safely and efficiently perform concrete pavement repairs along this section of the interstate.
DOTD suggests the following alternate route: Motorists wishing to access I-20 westbound from Market Street will be detoured down LA 1 (Youree Dr) southbound to the crossover near Earnest’s Orleans Restaurant, to LA 1 (Youree Dr) northbound and back to I-20 westbound.
As with any type of project like this, work will be performed "Weather Permitting", so inclement weather could delay, extend, or alternate in other ways, the scheduled work days/hours.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
