Saturday, December 21 at 1 p.m., all of the best high school football players from all over the state of Louisiana will take over the Independence Stadium turf for the East-West All-Star Game.

Players of local interest to those who will be playing at major colleges will be participating in the game.

In total 72 players will be on the field on Saturday night for the All-Star Game.

Players from in our backyard include Evangel receiver Jared Cornelius. On Wednesday, he signed a scholarship for the University of Arkansas to become a Razorback. Other local players include Byrd defensive lineman Chandler Nance and defensive back Nicholas Pratt, Calvary offensive lineman, and Fair Park's LaDarrius Woodards.

Notable players from outside of our region include, Barbe's Tre Quinn. Quinn will be on The Tim Fletcher Show on Monday talking about his season and this game.

Byrd head coach Mike Suggs and North DeSoto head coach Scott Abernathy will serve as assistant coaches in the game.

Leading the West team will be Notre Dame's Lewis Cook. And, leading the East team will be Mickey McCarty from Neville.
