Mardi Gras has been going on for hundreds of years and sure has changed a lot since it's beginnings! What started as a small celebration in Alabama has turned into a cultural phenomenon bringing millions of dollars to the cities where it's held. Luckily for us Shreveport happens to have one of the larger Mardi Gras celebrations.

Our friends at Twin Blends Photography LLC and Spring Street Museum put together a video giving us a glimpse in the past of what Mardi Gras looked like in 1927. Lets just say if floats looked the same in 2017 as they did in 1927 fire marshals would have a heart attack! You can see the floats being pulled by donkeys and lit by actual torches!

If you're looking to enjoy one of the upcoming parades you're in luck because you still have several to choose from! We have the complete calendar of everything Mardi Gras in the SBC just CLICK HERE for more details!
