WWE probably didn't plan for NXT to ever overshadow their main brands. But as WWE's "developmental" brand continues to, well...develop, the brand has started to challenge WWE's main brands on Raw and Smackdown for attention.

Tonight will be a prime example of that.

NXT will be running their online-only version of a pay-per-view tonight in Chicago. Appropriately named NXT Takeover: Chicago.

The Takeover in Chicago will feature some of the biggest names that have never appeared on the main WWE brand. Guys who have been "indy darlings" for years, and are now just below the line being WWE Superstars.

Guys like Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, Shayna Baszler, Ricochet, and the other top line NXT stars can put on performances that would be considered the best in the world. These are literally performers who would carry any other company, and they're in "developmental" for WWE.

So what will we see tonight? Here's the card for the show:

Aleister Black (champ) vs. Lars Sullivan - NXT championship match
Nikki Cross vs. Shayna Baszler (champ) - Women's championship match
Tommaso Ciampa vs. Johnny Gargano - Street Fight
Velveteen Dream vs. Ricochet
Undisputed ERA (champs) vs. Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan - Tag Team Championship match
