UPDATE:  More information has been released about a fatal wreck in west Shreveport. Here's more from an SPD news release:

At approximately 2:20 p.m. on July 18, 2016, Shreveport Police patrol officers were called to a three car accident at the intersection of Colquitt Road at Birdwell Lane. As officers arrived at the crash site, contact was made with the drivers of all involved vehicles. Each driver was able to communicate with officers without a great deal of difficulty and did not appear to be suffering any incapacitating injuries. It was learned from information and evidence gathered at the scene of the accident, 20 year old William Myer II, was operating a 2005 Ford Taurus west bound on Colquitt Road when he attempted to turn into a private driveway. During the operation, the vehicle Myer was driving was struck by a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis traveling east on Colquitt Road, operated by 82 year old Pauline Wallace of Shreveport.

The impact of the vehicles sent Wallace's vehicle into a third automobile, a 2016 Jeep driven by 27 year old Brittany Lee. As mandated by state law, each driver was taken to a local hospital for toxicology testing. An elderly female passenger inside Myer's vehicle was flown from the scene via Life Air Rescue, to University Health hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. At current, impairment does not appear to be a causative factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY:  A local woman has died in a three-car accident in Shreveport.

Shreveport police say the driver of a green Ford sedan pulled onto Colquitt Road and was struck by a tan Mercury sedan. That led to a collision with a third vehicle.

The drivers of the Ford and Mercury were taken to the hospital for mandatory chemical testing. A passenger in the green Ford was flown by LifeAir to University Health in critical condition. She died from her injuries a short time later. Her name has not been released.

Police will have the area blocked off until their investigation is complete.
