April 20 isn’t an official holiday recognized by more stodgy establishments like the US government, but for a certain group of Americans, it’s a de facto Independence Day. Longtime marijuana connoisseur and legalization advocate Willie Nelson has chosen 4/20 as the day to stream his new song ‘Roll Me Up’ on his official website.

In the song, recorded with Jamey Johnson, Snoop Dogg and Kris Kristofferson, Nelson sings about how he’d like to be treated after he gives way to the great hot box in the sky. As you listen on the legend’s website, pay special attention to the joint in the center of the screen — it actually burns away as the song nears its conclusion. ‘Roll Me Up’ appears on Nelson’s forthcoming ‘Heroes‘ album, due out in May.

While Nelson is busy honoring Mary Jane on April 20, the city of Austin will be honoring Willie Nelson. A bronze statue of the country singer will be unveiled at 4:20PM down in Texas as a means of recognizing not only his musical accomplishments, but also his lifelong support of a green lifestyle. Nelson will be on hand for the statue’s unveiling and will later take part in a Johnny Cash tribute show at ACL Live’s Moody Theater.
