The late night TV schedule at CBS is signed, sealed and set for the next two years. CBS just announced that my good friend and host of ‘The Late Show’  David Letterman and ‘The Late, Late Show’ big man, Craig Ferguson have both renewed their contracts through 2014.

Dave will have been a late night talk show host for 32 years after he completes this newest contract. That will break the record previously held by former ‘Tonight Show’ host Johnny Carson.

Nina Tassler, CBS Entertainment President said these kind words about my friend Dave in a press release,

David Letterman is a late night legend with an iconic show and Craig Ferguson continues to evolve the genre in exciting and innovative ways.”

‘The Late, Late Show’ is produced by Letterman’s World Wide Pants, and the assumption is that Ferguson will inherit Letterman’s slot when Dave retires.

It's gonna be at least a couple more years, but in the mean time, what do you think?

Would Ferguson be a worthy replacement when the time comes or do you have someone else in mind?
