So the announcement of LSU quarterback Justin McMillan transferring was initially met with mixed emotions. Some LSU fans felt is was what was best for the player and team, others thought it was some kind of death blow to the LSU season. But most people agreed that McMillian could go wherever he wanted, because he was a graduate transfer.

Much like Brandon Harris did a few seasons ago, or Joe Burrow did this year in coming to LSU. To borrow a line from a famous college football analyst...not so fast my friend.

The Advocate Reports that LSU will not allow recently departed quarterback Justin McMillan to transfer to another SEC school, or a school that LSU will play this season, or even next year.

McMillan was reportedly under the assumption he could transfer to any school as a graduate transfer, which was the same thing most fans and analysts thought. But the NCAA’s new transfer rules that prevents schools from blocking student-athletes from transferring to a certain school doesn’t go into effect until October 15th. Meaning he'd have to sit until then to do anything, which could jeopardize his remaining eligibility.
