This has been literally a roller coaster year for the Los Angeles Kings, starting off with a sub-.500 record, and struggling on all cylinders, the Kings say "Who cares" and not only defeat the New Jersey Devils 6-1 last night, but they defeated all of the doubters.

This is the same Kings team, that ended the regular season second to last in all of the NHL in scoring, not to mention barely getting into the postseason as an 8 seed in the Western Conference.

Their first test in the playoffs, the #1 seeded Vancouver Canucks. Beat them in 5 games.

The second test, the #2 seeded St. Louis Blues. They sent them back to St. Louis without a win.

Their third test, the #3 seeded Phoenix Coyotes in the Western Conference Finals (the Coyotes making their first appearance since they were the original Winnipeg Jets). Beat them in 5 games.

Their fourth and final test, the Stanley Cup Finals, took a 3-0 lead in the Finals, before the Devils won two straight games, before L.A. ended things tonight.

What's really impressive about the Kings, they went 16-4 throughout the playoffs, with only one road loss, Game 5 in New Jersey.

Kings goalie Johnathan Quick was named the MVP for not only his 17 saves in Game 6, but his stellar performance since the Stanley Cup Playoffs began.

Two interesting facts, the Kings are the first team to clinch the Stanley Cup at home since their rivals to the south, the Anaheim Ducks did it in 2007. Also, the Kings were the first #8 seed to make it to the finals since the Edmonton Oilers did it in 2006, the Oilers lost, which makes the Kings the first #8 seed EVER to hoist Lord Stanley's Cup!
