Big Tex is a man of many secrets... It's why his hat is so big.

Living in the Ark-La-Tex, I know that plenty of us have traveled to Dallas-Fort Worth for the State Fair of Texas. It always guarantees a good time for locals and visitors alike. One thing that has always been a long (and tall) standing tradition is being welcomed to the fair by Big Tex.

Of course, I mean Big Tex 2.0 since we lost one Tex to a fire (moment of silence).

This gigantic statue is situated at the gates of the fairgrounds each year. We found a pretty cool video from the State Fair of Texas' Facebook page that shows Tex being hoisted into the air and stationed at his post.

I don't know about you, but I would be terrified to have this job. Big Tex is heavy! He's like 19,000 pounds. Plus, he cost $500,000 to build. (The original only cost $750.)

The State Fair of Texas runs through October 23. After that, your next chance to get your fair game on will be October 27 through November 13 at the State Fair of Louisiana which is celebrating 110 years.
