Just a few days ago Vince Gill made a $12,000 donation to the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. His kindness is to help finish construction on a brand new children’s music exhibit.

Gill has been a member of the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame since 1999, and a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame since 2007, and has challenged other musicians and singers to pitch in and donate to the cause.

The children’s exhibit is almost complete, but they’re still a little bit shy of what they need to finish. When finished, the project will be open to children of all ages and hosted by Jeremiah the Bullfrog. You know him from Three Dog Night’s hit ‘Joy to the World,’ which was written by Oklahoma native Hoyt Axton.

And something else you might find interesting, Hoyt Axton’s mother, Mae Axton, wrote ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ which was recorded by Elvis Presley.

In the exhibit, children can build a band, observe the different sounds of different musical instruments and learn about Oklahoma’s many contributions to music.

The Executive Director from the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame said, “We can’t thank Mr. Gill enough for his generosity, and we are honored that he would also step forward to issue a challenge to his fellow inductees to make a contribution … We believe children need to understand that music comes from real people and real musical instruments not just from electronics.”

Vince Gill released his most recent record, ‘Guitar Slinger,’ in late October.
