Last year, South Carolina suffered major flooding in parts of the state which happened to have the two teams relocate the week 7 game from Columbia,SC to Baton Rouge. After the game was rescheduled to Tiger Stadium, Les Miles and LSU AD Joe Alleva, both made it a priority to make the Gamecocks to feel at home as much as possible.

No LSU did not paint their field in the spirit of South Carolina but they did welcome them with open arms and kind hearts. LSU had the South Carolina state flag up on the video board during pre-game and even the band learned the Gamecock fight song and alma mater. LSU even had Red Cross donations being collected at every entrance into Tiger Stadium and to add to that all money made from the game was given to the Gamecock football program.. LSU star running back Leonard Fournette said in a post game interview, after the Tigers defeated South Carolina 45-24, that he would auction off his game worn jersey to the flood victims in South Carolina which went for $101,000.

Now, The University of South Carolina is giving back to the Baton Rouge community that was so welcoming to them in their time in need. These devastating floods in south Louisiana that have taken the lives of 13 people across the state and destroyed over 40,000 homes, big name celebrities like Taylor Swift are donating money for the flood efforts but the Gamecocks are returning the favor. USC President Harris Pastides said "LSU was so gracious to assist us in our time of need. Now it is our turn to help our SEC friends. I encourage all Gamecocks to drop off items needed for the Baton Rouge flood relief."

The University of South Carolina is loading up the equipment truck with supplies from food and water all the way to pillows and blankets. Seeing these acts of kindness is one example of how sports can help during difficult times.
