The state of Louisiana has apparently reached a deal on the Cooperative Endeavor Agreement betwee Ochsner and University Health. This will put Ochsner in place to run the local safety net hospital and the LSU Med School in Shreveport.

We caught up with Matthew Block, the Governor's Executive Counsel to talk about this new deal.

The following statement was released:

The agreement reflects a true 50/50 partnership between LSU Health Shreveport and Ochsner with a shared vision for advancing healthcare and medical education in north Louisiana. As part of the agreement, a new governing board will be formed with representation from LSU Health Shreveport, Ochsner and the North Louisiana communities being served. To ensure the success of the long-term partnership, funding sources have been identified to support the healthcare joint venture in north Louisiana without requiring additional state funds.

KEEL News also caught up with State Senator Greg Tarver to get his opinion about this deal.

Once the agreement gets the ok by the LSU Board of Supervisors and the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget it will be put into place. It's expected to begin October 1st.
