It has been magical season for the University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. They became a household name across the nation for the first time in school history, following a stunning overtime victory on the road against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

For all their efforts this season, the 'Hawks have been awarded for a chance to play another game: the Independence Bowl.

After having a 8-4 record this season (6-2 Sun Belt Conference), the ULM Warhawks have officially accepted an invitation from Independence Bowl officials just a few moments ago, to play on one of football's biggest stages.

Warhawks head coach Todd Berry is grateful his team was given such a worthy invitation. Berry said earlier, “We are thrilled and honored to be selected to participate in this year’s AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl,” stated Bobby Staub, ULM’s Director of Athletics.  “We couldn’t have picked a better location for our first-ever bowl game and look forward to our students, alumni and fans converging on Shreveport the week of December 28th.”

Independence Bowl chairman Jack Andres has noticed the Warhawks throughout the season and is a firm believer that ULM belongs in this game. Andres stated, “We are pleased to announce that the AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl will be hosting ULM, one of the best Cinderella stories of the 2012 college football season,” said chairman Jack Andres.  “They have garnered a lot of national attention this year and are incredibly fun to watch.”

The Warhawks' opponent is unknown at this time but, we do know that the game will be played on Friday, December 28th at 1 p.m. If you would like to purchase tickets, you can purchase them here.
