Two Super Bowl Champs in a Thriller
Alabama's star Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram fell short as the New Orleans Saints lost to the champion Green Bay Packers on the last play of the NFL regular season game.
The final score last night was 42-34, as Ingram was stopped at the one yard line as time ran out.
Green Bay did have the home-game advantage, and Saints Head Coach Sean Payton gave the Packers credit for doing "a very good job...they did all the things you need to do to win.."
Saints quarterback Drew Brees finished last night's game with 32 completions of 49 throws for 419 yards and three touchdowns.
He was able to get the ball to tight end Jimmy Graham and wide receivers Devery Henderson and Robert Meachem for scores.
Darren Sproles in his debut with the Saints gained 250 yards with 13 carries..
He scored on an exciting 72-yard punt return in the second quarter.
Payton had nothing but praise for Sproles, calling him "electric...he changed it for us. He gave us some momentum with the punt return."
Henderson caught six passes for 100 yards, and Marquee Colston made six receptions for 81 yards.
Ingram led the Saints with 40 yards on 13 carries, while Pierre Thomas had five carries for 31 yards.
