Louisiana is a great football state. There's at least ONE college game in the state every weekend of the season. The high school football is some of the beast from coast to coast. The New Orleans Saints have one of the most passionate fan-bases in the league, and a good chunk of the state is close enough to Dallas and Houston to find enjoyment from their franchises as well.

So when players from Louisiana-based teams, whether it's pro or college, get close to the Hall of Fame, people start paying attention. Which is what is happening now.

Here's more from the Louisiana Radio Network:

"Former LSU Tigers Alan Faneca and Kevin Mawae are among 15 finalists to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It’s the third year that Faneca has been a finalist, second for Mawae. Former Grambling standout and Cowboys cornerback Everson Walls is up for consideration for the first time in his 20th year of eligibility."
