A shooting Tuesday afternoon left one dead in Shreveport. Police were called to the Hollywood minimart at the corner of Hollywood and Jewella around 1:30 pm Tuesday. According to police, the victim was shot multiple times with what appeared to be a rifle.

Police believe the gunman was able to escape the scene in a white Dodge Charger. This was Shreveport's 17th homicide of the year.

Shreveport Police Chief Alan Crump spoke on the recent spike in violence a short time after the incident. He told KTBS that these shootings are not random occurrences.

"These individuals that are doing what they are doing, they are not random, they know each other. And if one person falls from that gunfire, other people who are affiliated and associated with them feel that they have to get vengeance back on that individual, and the cycle goes back and forth."

If you have any info on the shooting, call Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373.
