The CHRISTmas season had to be Barney’s most favorite time of the year. Barney has been helping Santa out for more than 35 years; Yes, Barney was a Santa helper during high school as well as being Santa’s helper for the City of New Boston and Jefferson, the Jefferson VFD, New Prospect Baptist Church, Piney Woods Mothers of Twins) – He was very passionate about Operation Santa Claus because of his involvement from the beginning stages of such a wonderful program.

As many of you know, Barney always had that wonderful contagious smile but during the holidays there was an extra twinkle in his eyes. He loved going out to remotes to connect with his listeners and would do just about anything to get people involved to help Operation Santa Claus provide toys for the many children living in Shreveport/Bossier City a place.

Barney would come home the night before the kick-off of Operation Santa Claus and set two alarm clocks to make sure he didn’t oversleep. He even smooth talked Gary McCoy into standing in front of a store in a diaper and a red OSC sweatshirt with fireman boots…He LOVED every minute too!!! Barney even wore one of his daughter, Kim’s dress with white leggings to a remote… He loved to see people enjoy life!

During the past few years, OSC added a special toy run for the children who were spending the holidays at Shriner’s Hospital and Schumpert Sutton’s Children Hospital - Barney loved this day the most – To see the smiles, grins and maybe get a hug or two from the children was priceless!

Barney believed that we were placed here on Earth to help each other make life the best it can be. Please continue to support Operation Santa Claus – because I know that Barney is looking down on all this year’s activity with a HUGE SMILE!

Thank you for allowing me to share a few memories about our special Barney - Share your smile with someone today!
