David Toms had a pretty good Sunday at Augusta. The Bossier City native shot a Sunday best 5 under 67 (Michael Thompson also shot 67 in the final round,) and moved 25 spots up the Masters leaderboard. But great play was met with not-so-great news.

Toms Sunday rally propelled the former LSU golfer all the way up to a tie for 13th for the Championship.  The top 12 finishers and all ties automatically qualify for the 2014 Masters.  DT just missed that cut.  David has made six straight cuts at the Masters.

David had plans to follow the PGA Tour to the event at Hilton Head this week but was informed on Sunday that he was not in the field.

David apparently didn't commit to the tournament before the Friday 5pm deadline.  Toms says it was entirely his fault and not that of his manager.

“It’s 100 percent on me,” Toms said. “I checked the computer and I didn’t commit. I had no idea. I had a hotel reservation and everything.”

The Airline High School alum had never committed such an error in 20 years on the PGA Tour.

Toms 13th place finish at the 2013 Masters tied him in the final standings with Ernie Els, Fred Couples, Dustin Johnson and Nick Whatney.  His payout is $145,600.
