What's new in the world of Ark-La-Tex sports?

Captain Shreve students, faculty, friends and family gathered Monday morning in the school’s gym to remember Coach Richard Lary. Shreve principal Sandra McCalla said at the memorial of Coach Lary, “We're proud he was among us…He mentored his athletes. He was courageous. He carried a go-getting attitude and a sense of humor. He never passed us without a joke.” The visitation for Coach Lary will take place tonight from 5-7pm at Calvary, the funeral will take place tomorrow at 10am, also at Calvary.

 

Yesterday’s storm in South Louisiana didn’t leave Alex Box Stadium unscathed. Both foul poles snapped due to the high winds! Temporary foul poles will have to do for the time being. But, that’s not stopping the Tigers-Alcorn State match up tonight. Kyle Bouman takes the pill to the hill for Paul Mainieri. 1130 The Tiger will have the game, pre game begins at 6, first pitch at 6:30.

 

Greg Goff’s Louisiana Tech Bulldogs host Stephen F. Austin tonight at 6.

 

The start of the high school baseball playoffs get underway tonight. Ruston at Jesuit at 5. Haughton at Live Oak at 6. Airline hosts Byrd tonight at 7. Shreve, supposed to take on Destrehan last night, will play tonight, on the campus of St. Thomas Aquinas at 7. In 4A, Northwood plays Neville at 4. Minden at Lutcher, also at 4. Benton will host Rayne at 5. Loyola at Beau Chene at 5. North DeSoto plays Eunice at 6.
