LSU finished off a three-game sweep of Missouri Sunday with a 6-5 win in 10 innings.  The top-ranked team in the land gave the fans in Alex Box a little more baseball for their money in the final home game of the regular season—but it certainly won’t be the last home game of the 2015 campaign.
Paul Mainieri’s men are in line for a top-national seed in the NCAA Baseball Tournament and the host-role that comes with it, provided LSU makes it out of Regional play, which will take place in The Box as well.
First things first, putting the Missouri series to bed.  Jake Fraley singled home Connor Hale with the game-winning run in the 10th with nobody out to cap the first SEC series sweep at home all season.
Russell Reynolds pitched out of a jam in the top of the 10th to run his record to 5-0. Entering the game with runners on 1st and 3rd and nobody out, Reynolds induced a ground-out with the infield in followed by a nifty double play turned by Hale at third base to get out of the inning unscathed.
LSU is guaranteed the regular season SEC title with two wins at South Carolina between Thursday and Saturday. However, with a game-and-a-half lead over Vanderbilt and two-game lead over Texas A&M, the Tigers can also get help with one or two losses from their closest pursuers.
If not for LSU’s tear since the beginning of April, Northwestern State would be the hottest college baseball team in the state.
The Demons finished off a sweep of Abilene Christian on the road Sunday with a 6-4 win.  Former Airline Viking Chase Daughdrill got the scoreboard operator off break with an RBI triple in the top of the first. He scored on Caleb Dugas’ groundout.  Dugas scored a run in the fourth inning on C.J. Webster’s base hit.
Abiliene Christian closed within a run of NSU but were foiled in the comeback effort by a throwing error that allowed the Demons to plate the insurance run.
Jeffrey Stovall picked up the win to improve to 6-4.
Over the weekend, NSU president Jim Henderson made the trip to Abilene to present degrees to six Demons who missed the graduation ceremony due to the Southland Conference series.
In the NBA playoffs Sunday, LeBron James hit a game-winning shot at the buzzer to give Cleveland an 86-84 win over Chicago to even the series with the Bulls at 2-2.   Cavaliers head coach, David Blatt drew up a play for the final shot that had LeBron inbounding the ball, not taking the shot.  That didn’t go over well with the franchise player who said, “Give me the ball and get out of the way.”
That play worked.
The Clippers roasted Houston 128-95 to take a 3-1 series lead.
The Rockets’ executed their game plan of sending DeAndre Jordan to the free throw line quite well in the first half, with Jordan attempting an NBA playoff record 28 free throws in the first half. For the game, Jordan attempted 34 free throws, making just 14---which is why Houston’s game plan was put in place.

L.A. was led by Blake Griffin’s 21 points. J.J. Reddick had 18 and Chris Paul handed out 12 assists to go with his 15 points in the win
