Evangel plated five runs before Erath recorded an out in the bottom of the first inning and it was smooth sailing from there for the Eagles who advanced to the third round of the 2A baseball playoffs with a 10-0 blanking.   Future ULM Warhawk, Blake Buckman blasted a solo home run on the second pitch in the Eagles half of the first inning, setting the stage for the early onslaught.
Ryne Ray and Hunter Shaw also added round-trippers.  Next up, the winner of University High and E. D White.  If U-High wins, ECA hits the road in the quarterfinals. If E.D. White wins, Tim Hulett's team will host in the next round.

Byrd and Benton claimed the LHSAA Division I and Division II state golf championships Tuesday, repeating the feat accomplished last year.
The Yellow Jackets Phillip Barbaree won the individual title, finishing his two rounds three-under par.  Byrd finished 15-strokes clear of second place Catholic High of Baton Rouge.  Teammates Carter Toms tied for fifth individually with a two-day score of six-over par. Mason Barr and Jeffrey Berry were eight and nine over par respectively for the back-to-back champions.
Benton nearly lapped the field in the Division II event, finishing 24 strokes ahead of St. Louis.  Future Louisiana Tech Bulldog, Jacob Wyatt finished even-par to claim the individual title for Benton.  North DeSoto's Nolan Timon finished third on the individual leaderboard.   Wyatt's Tiger teammates, Hayden White and Corbin Cantrell each finished four-over par with fellow Tiger David Cole one shot further back.

Opponents held under 100 points against Golden State this season had gone 0-44... before last night. Memphis evened their Western Conference semi-finals series at one-win apiece with a 97-90 win over the top-seeded Warriors.  Mike Conley, returning to the floor just eight days after surgery on his fractured face, scored 22 points to lead the Grizz to the upset.  NBA MVP Steph Curry had a rare off night, hitting just 7-of-19 shots.  Teammate and fellow splash brother Klay Thompson wasn't much better, connecting on just 6-of-15 shots.
Atlanta knocked off Washington 106-90 to knot their Eastern Conference Semi-finals series at one-all. The Wizards, who pulled off the upset in Atlanta in game one didn't have John Wall in the lineup, instead turning to former LSU Tiger Garrett Temple... who scored just two points in 13 minutes of work. Former Louisiana Tech Bulldog Paul Millsap scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the win.

It appears Texas grew tired of Houston getting all the attention in the American League West. After snapping the Astros 10-game winning streak Monday, Texas handed the 'Stros their second straight loss last night, 7-1.
Wandy Rodriguez, a former Astro, worked a season-best eight innings and allowed just three hits and one run in picking up the win over his former team.
