Saints quarterback Drew Brees said Wednesday he fully intends to play Sunday in the pivotal early-season division showdown with 2-0 Carolina. Brees told reporters on his day to talk to the media, "However I can make it happen, I need to make it happen," when asked if he was going to play.

Brees said he felt pretty good and was confident he would play Sunday in Charlotte.

Without the certainty of playing, though, Brees and back-up Luke McCown--a Louisiana Tech alum, have both been preparing to start. "its a challenge for both of us because we have to devote the same amount of time to preparation and at the same time, practice."

The Saints are 0-2, chasing both the unbeaten Panthers and the equally unblemished Falcons, who visit Arlington to face the Cowboys.
