Noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews looked at Drew Brees MRI and confirmed the Saints starting quarterback suffered a bruised, not torn, rotator cuff in Sunday's loss at home to Tampa Bay.

According to ESPN, there is a possibility Brees could play Sunday in New Orleans' key divisional game at Carolina. If Brees can't play, former Louisiana Tech Bulldog Luke McCown will get the start.

Brees hasn't missed a game due to injury since the last game of the 2005 season when Brees severely injured his shoulder as the San Diego Chargers starting quarterback.  Dr. Andrews performed the surgery that offseason that enabled Brees to continue his career, starting the next season in New Orleans.
