And, they need help in more ways than one.

How on Earth does the U.S. Postal Service stay in business? I went there today and the line was all the way out the door, and behind the country was one employee!

Can you believe that, one young lady working behind the counter at the post office? Even multimillion dollar company Wal Mart has two checkers! Oh, there was a guy working in the back, (with a foreign accent), so she wasn’t entirely by herself.

I know it’s not the fault of the young lady working behind the counter, even if she was slow as Christmas.

That woman at the front of the line didn’t help much either. I don’t know what all she was doing, but it took her about fifteen minutes.

When I finally got to the front of the line, (about 40 minutes later), I said, “I need a long stamped envelope please.”

And she replied, “I’m sorry, but we’re out of the long stamped envelopes, will a short one be ok?”

I said, “Sure that will work just fine.”

So I just took the letter, with the money order inside it, that I had folded so neatly, and gave it one more fold which made it short enough to fit inside the short envelope.

The next time I need to send a letter, I’ll buy a box of envelopes at the grocery store and a stamp from a machine.

Or maybe I’ll just use the internet, (the downfall of the U.S. Postal Service) and send an electronic check from my paperless bank account.
